The Traders Domain in One Minute

The Traders Domain (Traders Domain FX Ltd) was a St. Vincent and the Grenadines company that pooled customer money to trade leveraged commodities, mainly gold against the US dollar (XAU/USD). In October 2024 the CFTC sued it, its co-founders Ted Safranko and David Negus-Romvari, successor Ares Global (Trubluefx) and many sponsors and agents, alleging fraud involving at least $283 million from more than 2,000 customers.

How the Sponsor Network Worked

The CFTC describes a hub-and-spoke setup: sponsors acted as spokes bringing customers to the Traders Domain hub. Named sponsors include Holton Buggs Jr. of Houston, a well-known MLM figure, Michael Shannon Sims, Algo Capital and its agents, and Centurion Capital Group and its agents. The CFTC says sponsors fraudulently solicited customers and misappropriated funds.

What the CFTC Alleges

  • Customers were given misleading oral and written statements.
  • Funds were misappropriated.
  • When withdrawals were delayed in 2022, customers got conflicting excuses.
  • Customers were falsely assured their money was safe.

Where the Case Stands

The court froze assets in October 2024 and appointed a receiver, Kelly Crawford. Several defendants were sanctioned or defaulted. A jury trial set for November 2026 was cancelled while summary judgment motions proceed, with motions due November 10, 2026, and the CFTC citing advanced settlement talks. The receivership and injunctions remain in place.

The Claims Process

The CFTC urged customers to file an official claim through the receivership website by July 28, 2025 to be eligible for any future recovery. Answering a CFTC survey didn't count as a claim. If you missed the deadline, contact the receiver to ask about late claims.

Why Leveraged Gold Pools Are Risky

Leverage magnifies gains and losses, and pooled accounts mean you can't see your own trades. Offshore pools may not be registered to accept US customers at all. Check whether any pool operator is registered with the CFTC and a member of the NFA before sending money.

Before You Join a Trading Pool

  1. Look up the operator on NFA BASIC.
  2. Ask who holds the money and get independent statements.
  3. Be wary of sponsors paid to recruit you.
  4. Treat withdrawal delays as a reason to stop depositing.
  5. Never move money to a "new platform" after problems.

If You Lost Money

Keep deposit records and sponsor communications, check the receivership site for updates, and report to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center. The receiver doesn't charge fees to file, so ignore paid "recovery" offers.

A Steadier Way to Protect Savings

Schemes like this prey on people looking for fast returns. Some savers prefer slower, tangible assets for part of their retirement money. Was The Traders Domain Legit?
