OmegaPro in One Minute
OmegaPro was a multi-level marketing program, founded around January 2019, that sold "investment packages" and promised returns of 300% over 16 months from forex trading by "elite traders." In July 2025 the Justice Department unsealed an indictment in Puerto Rico charging founder Michael Shannon Sims and promoter Juan Carlos Reynoso with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering, alleging more than $650 million taken from thousands of investors. They are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
| Founded | About January 2019 |
|---|---|
| Model | MLM investment packages |
| Promised | 300% over 16 months |
| Raised | $650M+ in crypto (DOJ alleges) |
| Charged | Michael Shannon Sims, Juan Carlos Reynoso |
| Court | U.S. District of Puerto Rico |
How It Was Pitched
Investors paid in crypto for packages, then watched balances grow. According to prosecutors, Sims vouched for the traders' skill and claimed the investment was safe, while Reynoso, who led operations in Latin America and parts of the US, claimed OmegaPro held a legitimate license and at other times said it wasn't subject to any country's laws.
The "Hack" and the Broker Group Move
After OmegaPro announced a network hack, investors were told around January 2023 that their funds were safe and being moved to a platform called Broker Group. Prosecutors say victims couldn't withdraw from either platform. Money allegedly went to wallets controlled by executives, then to insiders and promoters to hide its source.
Why 300% in 16 Months Was a Warning
Tripling money in 16 months works out to roughly 7% a month, every month, with no losses. Professional forex traders rarely sustain anything close. A fixed, very high return promised in advance is the most reliable sign that payouts come from new investors.
The Traders Domain Connection
Sims is also a defendant in the CFTC's separate civil case over The Traders Domain, a forex pool that took at least $283 million, the CFTC alleges. Several MLM promoters were linked to both. Read our Traders Domain review.
Red Flags It Showed

If You Lost Money in OmegaPro
Keep records of packages, deposits, wallet addresses and messages about the hack or Broker Group. Follow official Justice Department case updates for any victim process, and report to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center. Never pay a "recovery" service that promises to unlock OmegaPro balances.
A Steadier Way to Protect Savings
Schemes like this prey on people looking for fast returns. Some savers prefer slower, tangible assets for part of their retirement money. Precious metals carry their own risks and costs.
Was OmegaPro Legit?
No. Federal prosecutors allege it was a $650 million fraud. The charges are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
