Residual Payments in One Minute
Residual Payments is a training program run by Patricia and David Carlin, who founded the payment processing company Deposyt in 2010. It teaches you to become a "digital payments" agent: you sign up businesses for credit card processing, and you earn a small cut of every transaction they process, month after month.
That's a real business model, known in the industry as being a merchant services agent or ISO agent. But it's a sales job: you have to find business owners and persuade them to switch processors. The program starts cheap and moves up to a $9,997 agency program, and most courses aren't refundable.
| Program | Residual Payments |
|---|---|
| Founders | Patricia and David Carlin (Deposyt) |
| Model taught | Credit card processing sales for residual commissions |
| Entry offer | About $17 |
| Main offers | Courses from $47 to $197 |
| High-ticket offer | Digital Payments Agency Program, about $9,997 |
| Monthly extras | Inner Circle about $299/mo, CRM about $49/mo |
| Refunds | Reported only on the intro course |
How Payment Processing Residuals Work
- A business accepts card payments and pays a processing fee on each sale.
- You refer the business to a processor through your agent account.
- The processor shares part of its margin with you.
- You earn a residual every month, for as long as the business stays and keeps processing.
Residuals depend on how much each business processes. A shop processing $10,000 a month earns you far less than one processing $200,000. The Carlins recommend targeting businesses that process at least $10,000 a month, and claim an average of about $500 per client, which is their figure, not a typical result.

What's Inside the Training
The main course, Becoming a Highly Paid Agent, was reported to cover setup, prospecting, sales, onboarding merchants, scaling and mindset across more than 60 videos. Students also got a private Facebook group, and the Inner Circle adds weekly Zoom calls.
What Students Report
Results vary widely. Reported student earnings range from no clients yet, to around $1,000–$1,300 a month from a few clients, to one testimonial of more than $8,000 a month from 80+ accounts. Most students say the hard part is finding businesses willing to switch, which takes networking and persistence.
Common complaints include aggressive scarcity marketing, expensive upsells and no refunds on the main courses. One former affiliate made further allegations about changed support terms and charges; those are one person's claims and we couldn't verify them. We found no regulator action against the program.
The Challenges of Merchant Services Sales
- Competition: banks, Square, Stripe and many other agents pitch the same businesses.
- Low margins: residuals per account can be small, so you need many accounts.
- Churn: if a business closes or switches, your residual stops.
- Contracts: your agent agreement decides your split and whether you keep residuals if you stop, so read it carefully.
Is Residual Payments a Scam?
No. Payment processing residuals are real, and the Carlins run a real processing business. But this is a sales business, not passive income at the start. Expect to spend months finding clients, and be careful with the high-ticket upsell.
