InteleTravel in One Minute
InteleTravel is a host travel agency based in Delray Beach, Florida, which traces its roots to 1992. It lets people work as home-based independent travel agents, booking trips for friends, family and customers through InteleTravel's systems. It is a real, accredited travel agency, with industry credentials such as ARC, CLIA and IATA.
The catch is how agents join. New agents sign up through PlanNet Marketing, a multi-level marketing company that pays bonuses for recruiting other agents. That makes InteleTravel what travel industry insiders call an "MLM hybrid." Past income disclosures showed that most members earned very little, often less than their own fees. This review explains how it works and what to weigh up.
| Company | InteleTravel |
|---|---|
| Based in | Delray Beach, Florida |
| Roots | 1992 |
| Model | Host travel agency, joined through the MLM partner PlanNet Marketing |
| Agent startup | About $179.99, then about $39.99 a month |
| Commission split | Agents start at 70% of the commission, up to 80% with sales |
| Past disclosure | About 77% of members earned no commissions (2018 data) |
What It Costs to Become an InteleTravel Agent
Through PlanNet Marketing, agents have joined at two levels:
| Level | Upfront | Monthly | First-Year Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rep (recruiting only) | About $19.95 | About $19.95 | About $260 |
| Travel agency (book travel) | About $179.99 | About $39.99 | About $660 |
Confirm current fees before joining, as they can change.
How InteleTravel Agents Earn
There are two income streams, and they work very differently:
- Travel commissions: suppliers such as cruise lines and hotels pay commission on bookings, often around 10% to 20%. InteleTravel passes 70% of that to the agent, rising to 80% with higher sales.
- Recruiting bonuses through PlanNet: about $50 when a recruit buys the travel agency package, about $25 when your recruits recruit, and larger bonuses once you have recruited at least nine people.
To see what travel commissions are worth, consider a $3,000 cruise paying a 12% commission. The supplier pays $360, and at a 70% split the agent keeps about $252. That is real money, but you would need several bookings like that each year just to cover $660 in fees, and most new agents start by booking their own trips.
What InteleTravel Members Actually Earn
Income figures published for 2017 and 2018 were stark. About 77% of members earned no commissions at all. The average for Rep-level members, who were about 97.5% of all members, was about $166 a year, which is less than the roughly $260 a year a Rep pays in fees.
In other words, the typical member paid more to belong than they earned. Ask for the current disclosure before you join and compare it with the fees.
The Travel Discount Angle
Many people join home travel agencies for personal travel perks rather than income. Some suppliers offer agents discounts or "familiarization" trips, and you can earn commission on your own bookings. Be careful with that reasoning: suppliers increasingly limit perks for agents who don't book for real customers, and the tax rules on deducting travel as a business expense are strict. Speak to a tax professional before relying on any travel write-offs.
Is InteleTravel a Pyramid Scheme?
We do not make legal findings, and we found no regulator action against InteleTravel. It is a genuine travel agency, and real bookings produce real commissions. The concern is the PlanNet layer: paying recruitment bonuses on membership fees, when most members earn less than they pay, is the pattern the FTC warns about in its guidance on multi-level marketing and pyramid schemes.
Is InteleTravel a Scam?
No. InteleTravel is an accredited host agency, and agents can book real travel and earn commissions. But the MLM recruiting layer, monthly fees and past disclosures showing most members earned less than they paid make it a poor income opportunity for most people. If you want to be a home-based travel agent, compare it with non-MLM host agencies.

Questions to Ask Before You Join
- What do non-MLM host agencies charge, and what split do they offer?

- What training and supplier relationships come with membership?
Who InteleTravel Might Suit
InteleTravel may suit someone with a real network of people who already book trips and want help, who plans to build a travel business rather than recruit. For most people, especially those joining for discounts or quick income, the fees outweigh the earnings.
